Our Ethos
All of our fresh drinking water is drawn from 80 metres beneath the ground, sourced directly from the Jurassic layer of Portland stone through our own private water source and advanced water filtration system. It is a naturally filtered supply, connected to the ancient geology beneath our feet and carefully purified for every stay.
Our cottages have been thoughtfully restored and built to modern, energy-efficient standards. Solar energy, air source heat pumps and underfloor heating work quietly behind the scenes to ensure your stay is both clean and exceptionally comfortable — reducing our carbon footprint while enhancing yours.
Across the site, we have created space not just for guests, but for wildlife too. Specialist bat boxes, bird and bee bricks are woven into the fabric of our buildings, while native trees, shrubs and insect-loving plants have been carefully introduced to strengthen local biodiversity. Dedicated “no-go” green areas allow nature to thrive undisturbed — places where you can pause, observe and appreciate the habitat without disrupting it.
Inside the cottages, you will find ethically sourced, certified wooden furniture, minimal use of plastics, and colourful garden tables and chairs crafted from recycled sea plastics. Even our artwork reflects the natural beauty that surrounds us — landscapes and coastline that remain freely accessible to all, inspiring a deeper connection to the outdoors.
These systems help to reduce our environmental impact, but more importantly they honour a simple promise: to preserve the original beauty of this special place. By restoring rather than replacing, enhancing rather than overpowering, we have created a retreat that remains beautiful and resilient — ready to be enjoyed by generations of guests, wildlife and living things yet to come.
