Welcome to the Sunray

Luxury holiday accommodation and a premium food led pub on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast

Set in the historic village of Osmington, on the edge of Weymouth, The Sunray is a much-loved Dorset landmark with a story that stretches back to 1933. For generations it stood as a gathering place for locals and travellers alike—and during the First World War, it became a favoured retreat for senior army officers and generals, drawn here by its discreet setting, far-reaching views and quiet sense of refuge.

Nearly a century on, The Sunray is being carefully and respectfully brought back to life.

Every detail of the original pub has been carefully considered and respectfully restored, preserving its character while re-imagining it for a new era. Alongside the reborn pub, a collection of luxury holiday cottages has been created—designed to blend effortlessly into their surroundings while offering exceptional comfort, privacy and style.

The cottages combine timeless materials with modern design, creating calm, beautifully finished spaces that invite you to slow down, reconnect and stay a little longer. Whether you’re here for the coast, the countryside, or simply the pleasure of being somewhere special, The Sunray offers a rare balance of history, atmosphere and understated luxury.

Reopening Spring 2026, The Sunray will once again be a place to gather, to escape, and to make memories—just as it has been for nearly a century.

From the sandy beaches and historic streets of Weymouth to the soaring cliffs, fossil-rich bays and countryside walks beyond

Tucked between rolling Dorset hills and the sweeping curve of Weymouth Bay, The Sunray places you moments from some of the most striking scenery on the Jurassic Coast. Wander the quiet lanes of Osmington, follow the coastal path towards Ringstead or Durdle Door, or spend slow days exploring Weymouth’s sandy beach, harbour and historic seafront. Whether you’re here for a cliff-top walk, a family break by the sea or a cosy retreat with good food and fresh air, this is the perfect base to enjoy the very best of South Dorset.
